Widely regarded as one of New Zealand’s most talented jumps jockeys, Shaun won NZ Jumps Jockey of the Year title for the 2021-22 season. He's also proud to have won 25 Prestige Jumping Races during his riding career.
As a trainer, he's won Gavelhouse.com Newcomer to Training Award in the 2022-23 season. His 17 wins came from no fewer than 10 different horses.
He's a great all round horseman and gives young horses a solid education and every opportunity to reach their potential.

Apprentice jockey Elen Nicholas, originally from Wales, is a dedicated and versatile member of the Phelan Racing team.
With a strong background as a former point-to-point jumps jockey in the UK, Elen brings a wealth of riding experience and horsemanship to the stable. She excels both in the saddle and on the ground, particularly in handling and developing young horses.
Whether she's schooling horses, supporting the team at the track, or taking on responsibilities in the office, Elen's commitment, knowledge, and adaptability make her an invaluable asset to the operation.
Yori
Yori is the newest full-time member of our team and a valued addition to the stable. A graduate of the Level 3 NZEA Academy, Yori brings both skill and dedication to his role. He rides trackwork with professionalism and precision, contributing greatly to the daily operations and success of the team.
